So I’ve been a little absent since the vacation. I’ve been distracted by so many gadgets and gizmos…and well, work. But back to the gadgets!
I don’t have the brain power or time tonight to do a formal, pretty, picture-filled post, but there’s a new gizmo I could not wait to talk about.
Magic Mouse. Multi touch surface on the top – programmable. It looks like Pro trackpad meets a mouse that actually works. I can’t wait! A friend pointed it out to me…I’m so buried at work that I forgot that Apple was announcing new goodies. As soon as I saw it somehow my credit card jumped into my hand, and it’s due to arrive sometime between Oct. 28-30 which isn’t soon enough for me.
I actually hate my Mighty Mouse. The little 360 ball on top gets clogged too often, it has pairing problems, the buttons on the sides are awkward. It’s ironic how bad Apple mice have been considering how wonderful and elegant the rest of their hardware is. But I have high hopes that Magic Mouse will change all that. I will report back as soon as it arrives. Maybe I’ll even do one of those dorky unbox videos!
Here’s where you can find more about Magic Mouse for now. I’m sure I’ll write a whole lot more about it when I have more time!

I thought long and hard before declaring a favorite gadget, but I think my little Canon Elph SD1000 has to be “the one.” Not only does the new model come in pink, and I’ve been itching to review a pink gadget, but it’s a staple in my grab-and-go purse.

As you see in the post title, I’ve updated the name to the model you can now buy but the review will discuss the 1000 that I have. You’ll see as I post, I’m primarily a geek on two fronts–computers and cameras. I’m finally in the market for a DSLR – I’ve been pining for one for years – but this little guy will remain my faithful companion.
There are three main reasons for this – quality, size and price. This little guy is a trooper. I throw him in my purse and he never disappoints. He’s always by my side ready to catch the quirky, the unexpected, and the fun. Right now I carry the smallest purse ever and he tucks neatly inside with my wallet, iPhone and keys. And unlike most of my gadgets, I’ve had this guy for three years and I’m not itching to trade him in for a newer, shinier and better model. He still does his work really well.

As most people who know me will say, if there’s a gadget involved, it’s automatically more fun for me. I enjoy reading, but I don’t make time for it. Or didn’t. Enter Kindle DX.
When the Kindle 1 and Kindle2
came out, I thought about getting one each time, but saw too many things that I thought would annoy me. Also I wondered if it would become the George Foreman grill of my electronics–something that’s a great idea but I never use. So I put off buying one and hoped the urge would go away.
Then the Kindle DX
came around, taunting me with its bigger screen, its PDF support, and its ability to actually read aloud to me. It only seemed like a matter of time before one would find its way into my life. And now that it has, do I use it? Do I like it?
