Coco Loco is responsible for several hours of lost sleep this week. Think Angry Birds, but with hot coco and marshmallows. And a ninja. Everyone loves ninjas. Seriously addictive, seriously fun. I really enjoy the fact that there’s liquid added to the mix of the typical weaponry. The physics for the liquid is pretty realistic, too. Get through levels by freeing your marshmallow friends from the clutches of the evil chocolate drops by launching jellies, ninjas, gumdrop bombs, marshmallows, or shower them down with cocoa. The only knock I have against Coco Loco is that I’m already almost done with [...]

For me, food photography is kind of like when one of your favorite Happy Days stars would show up on Laverne & Shirley (what? no, I’m not THAT old!). So exciting, and more than double the fun. I love to bake, and I love to take pictures. So to create efficiencies and synergies (wow, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little – I won’t do that to you again I promise) I’ve combined a couple of my top 5 obsessions. Here’s what I’ve learned about taking pictures of food. It can be tricky! But with some [...]

Green pigs, always laughing at me. Always taunting me. They hide in their crudely-fashioned yet surprisingly sturdy structures thinking they have outsmarted me. Laughing. But, with a variety of fowl weaponry at my disposal, I will eradicate these evil pigs and defend the bird’s nests. I know this isn’t new, but I think the first step is admitting I have a problem. Hi, I’m Angie. I can’t stop playing Angry Birds. Two apps on my phone and one on my computer – it’s a real problem. But do I want help?
My iPhone is a lot of things – I probably use the phone app less than any the others, but now it’s also a mouse? Yes but I’m already greedy… I just installed my first app from the new Mac App Store (get it if you haven’t yet – software updates). It’s called Remote Mouse and it basically turns your phone into a wireless mouse. This is already great for a few things but I’m also already wishing for more features. The app performs the basic functions of a mouse…left click, right click, scroll. But I find myself trying to [...]

Strange days – I finally got the app store update…no idea why I didn’t install it the second I knew about it as normal but I have been sick. It’s genius. I’m now really looking forward to Lion. They’ve essentially made installing even easier, and made it so simple for me to waste hours upon hours and dollars upon dollars installing fun new apps on my Mac. I think the App store for Macs potentially does a few great things: They get even more control over the Mac experience – Theoretically making everything an app puts it through another level [...]

I have suddenly been bombarded by commercials and comments about these pj pants turned jeans – they feel like they may be the new Snuggie. That thing that everyone makes fun of but secretly wants to try out because it sounds comfortable.
Apparently those nice bright colors and dreams of summers are a thing of the past. Dwayne’s Photo, the last commercial lab to process Kodachrome film, has accepted its last batch. In this world of digital, Kodachrome’s passing was inevitable – I don’t remember the last roll of any kind of film I put through my old Minolta. But Kodachrome is still a big part of my memories even if it recorded few of my own directly. It seems like yesterday that I was foraging for rolls of Kodachrome 64, or even 25 in my dad’s storeroom at Erber’s Camera Shop [...]
